As the Scipii, you have to enclose the Brutii by taking Salona and Apollonia. That way you force the Brutii to take on Greece and Macedonia quite early on.

Very Hard Campaign, with faction survival handicap. Strategy: Take Scyles southeast to take Byzantium, build a port there and ships. Send his army with one ship unit to take Pergamum, while getting Cretan Archer mercenaries. Then let Scyles take Halicarnassus, before going east to take Ancyra and the two Pontic cities, but let Pontus keep Nicomedia. Ally with Scythia, (Thrace), Macedonia and Germania. Send Vezina west and take Aquincum, send the rest of the army west, then take Segestica, make it the capital then take Patavium, then take Mediolanium and make it the capital. Then fight off the Juliis but let them keep their capital, then take Tarentum and then invade Sicily. Let SPQR keep Rome, let Scipii keep Capua and let Brutii keep Croton. Keep one defensive army in south Italy and one in the north and a defensive king's army in Cisalpine Gaul. Then invade Egypt and the isles as well as North Africa, Iberia and Transalpine Gaul.

At the very first turn, you can just send Alexander and 1 peasant unit to lay siege to Halicarnassus with that. When the Halicarnassian army attacks him the next turn, all that needs to be done is to leave with both units, run away to the stone formation. Use the peasants to lure the army, towards that unit. Then attack the Cretans, make them panic and leave back to the city, take your cavalry into the city and close all gates.

Every time I play as Carthage I "sell" everything even the capital, apart from the town in Spain and I focus there, Spain has a lot of mines and it can be easily developed with a capital in the center with good public order due to smaller distances then I can attack Italy. If I keep the city of Carthage it ends up with a huge minus in income and terrible public order due to big distances....

I killed trevor and now I am feeling bad for him after watching what could've been in Deathwish. Makes me wanna replay from my last save game just before choosing options 🙂

Really have to disagree on the onager not being useful against field units with super-long-range, gets much more accurate as you mangled formations, and the fire projectiles do good morale effects. Ditto ordinary ballista if the enemy stops just out of normal range, smash them with artillery. Especially on a bridge scenario.

It makes no sense of not giving archers to Spain and Britannia (well british missile chariots have some) . Even in other video games like Rome 2, 0 AD, the Iberians are all archerLESS. Idk why, I think its kinda of weird puerile conspiracy that the Iberians used bow only for hunting because it was seen as cowardice (but… the slingers and javelins are not?! 😅😅😅) There is ton of proof that the Iberians did used archery 🏹 in warfare as well, paintings, arrow wounds in human skeletons, arrow heads in mass graves etc. Clearly the ones who made these games about the Iberians have none poor or no research at all! But I agree that Spain in this game sucks in everything

Very bad tactical advice. Do not take Portugal early on, use them. Take Valencia and Zaragoza and ally with Portugal from the start allows you freedom to go against France, Moorish, England and Scots. Keep Portugal on your side and they will hold off the Moorish in the south (they also help with religion against Muslim Imams spamming) and France in the North until you are ready to move on those annoying French, also they tend to invade Scotland so it helps you invade the British Isles later and take the last remaining Scots settlements. When you don't need them anymore, usually after crushing the French, you can consider if you want to take them out, but personally I would keep them on my side till the very last moment.

The Cornelii and the Junii are the two factions who take over already developed lands from preestablished empires. The Jullii on the other hand are the faction that is geared towards taking land people write off as wastelands and then develop from the ground up

Pontus is just annoying as a foe. But they are quite enjoyable to play. Strategy wise you have a lot of options because you are the natural aggressor in the game setup. You have such a diverse roster you can play deep into the game and has strong chance of victory no matter what you conquered first.
